We use all of our brain just not all at the same time

Storage of the knowledge gained through the years. Like a hard drive, the data has to be saved somewhere.

I have always felt that we really do use all of our brain, just not all at the same time.

Another thought is that if someone used more than 10% would that be less space for data to be saved? Thus, allowing less information to be stored? Does that make the person smarter, or not?

Like ram, the 10% is simply the area used to process the other 90%.

This is a myth. In reality, people use all of their brain for daily functioning. For example, the frontal lobe is largely believed to be the executive control system that coordinates all the activities of the brain. Or the limbic system that controls emotion and fear. As a side, it would not make sense from an evolutionary perspective or a practical perspectiveto have a brain as large and complex as ours and only use 10%. It would be a waste of space.

To fill our skulls with grey matter. :)

But seriously, have you ever noticed that the smarter they get, the suckier they are with physical activities? The other parts of the brain are there to do the instinctual abilities like looking, seeing, walking, sending blood, etc. It's really weird that in a class discussion a long time ago, there is a man who is supposedly so intelligent that he couldn't do much with his body because more parts of the brain is used with thinking. Maybe that's why there has always been a correlation with smart people typically to be not very good athletes and sporty people to be well you know, not so gifted up there. ;)

A lot of the brain is ventricles, which are large spaces in the brain containing cerebrospinal fluid. The brain also contains a lot of hormone releasing glands, that aren't necessarily "used" in terms of higher functioning, but they release the chemicals that alter the thinking parts of the brain. Also, a large portion of the brain contains the cell bodies of the neurons that are sent throughout your body to control your movement, as well as interconnecting neurons in order to transmit information from one part to another. Trust me, it all serves a purpose.

they use most of the brain but only up to 10% as much as they could use it. there are no unused parts. just under-used. each part has a role to fill and it can do more than being required to.
it is like a computer with unused storage and ram. it could do more if required to but still you use most parts of it a little bit each day.

The other 90% is storage. Or it could possibly be some back knowledge. Another thing it could be is ideas. We really don't know a lot about our brains, and what we think we know is debatable. I really hope we learn more, because our brain is a very interesting specimen.

I've heard (but you'll need to track this source down) that the idea we only use 10% of our brain is an urban myth. In fact, we use all of our brain, but not all at once. (i.e. some areas of brain activated for different reasons at different times)
