I have a 60 GB External HD, and when you add a program to it, it will also be in your Add/Remove Programs. Try going there to see if it is. and them remove it that way then you can go back to your external HD and open the folder and see if it has an Uninstall option in the program. You can also go to Search click all files and foldres, make sure your Ex. HD ia ticked also and if the file is there, right click it and then delete it from there also.

It sounds like your hard drive has some corrupted data on it. There are thousands of reasons for this, but the solution is usually the same. If you're on Windows, run Checkdisk - you can get there by right-clicking your C: hard drive and choosing ScanDisk (i think that's it) - I'm on a Mac and it's been a while. Then it'll run when you next restart the machine. You want it to try and repair those errors.

If you're on a Mac then use Disk Utility from your install disk and run Repair Disk to fix the issue.
