i downloaded the recent itunes program, i reseted my ipod so the songs are gone now, and my ipod is registered, and it's still not updating

Well you have to make sure you registered your ipod. It is probably best to have the latest itunes program also. You can also try reinstalling itunes or reseting your ipod.
