Garter Snakes are the type of snakes that in the wild and in captivity need a lot of water so, make sure it have a large water bowl to drink and take bath, in pet stores sell many lights and warm rocks for reptiles, you should know that reptiles are cold blooded so, they need it to keep them warm, also they don't like too much to eat dead food or meat from the refrigerator so, you have to buy small goldfish or guppies for their diet that haves to be variable(fish, small frogs and small lizards),you need a large aquarium(even the small types of snakes need their space),they need privacy too so, buy, find or make something for it to hide, for example a small shoe box. Also you need tree branches for it to climb. Finally reptiles shed skin so they need a rough rock to help it with the shedding. If you need more info go to thehuntress_478@yahoo.es
I wish this can help you.

It is going to cost you about $150.00 for everything you need to properly take care of a snake. The snakes are cheap and the care is costly. If you are not prepared to spend the cash just let it go so it can find a den before winter sets in.
