If you are a gay man, why are you attracted to female looking men? Why wouldn't you like rugged tough men, if men are what you want? Or why do you act feminine to pick up other men? And also with women, why would you be attracted to women who look male or act rough? I just don't get it. If you are a man that likes men, why would you want female qualities and looks in your partner? Now, don't get offended, its just a question. AND also don't be like 'not ALL gays.' I am trying to understand, not trying to be mean.

First, understand heterosexuals (straight people). A women is considered straight first and foremost because she is attracted to the male aspect of a man, his genitals, his butt, his hair. SHE even looks for some sensitivity or a little feminist qualities. To gruff would suggest he's abusive, or rude, or just hard to get along with.
In any male/female relationship one is always more feminine, one is more masculine. That is the compatibility of life, but that is not why there are heterosexuals and homosexuals. That is just a personlity trait passed down through the ages. Women always have been more graceful, men have always been more powerful muscular-wise, thus more gruff and big. That is just the way of life, but that is not why someone conisders a woman or a man straight, they're straight because they like the other sex's body. After all, everybody would be bi-sexual if sexual orientation were based on personality. I am a girl, one of my best friend's is a girl, we do not date. I am a girl and another one of my best friend's is a guy, and we do not date either. Does that make sense?
Now put into homosexual perspective. A man is attracted to a man because he likes men's bodies. He is attracted to hair, butt, eyes and especially the genitalia. Personality comes later, but the inherited traits come from our animalistic perceptions still make relationships balance in feminine and masculine relationships. Gruff men are already gruff, why would they want another gruff man in their territory? Some do, sure, but that's an individual liking, not a general. it's very territorial- much like women not liking men being with other women, or vice versa. But feminism or masculinity is a personality trait, a subconcious inherited virtue derived from ancestors. Men are attracted to this because of their animal instincts, straight men and gay men alike. The only difference with gay men or women is their attraction to the physical, body, qualities. I hope I made sense.

Thats a good question to ask, and i've had this talk with my best friend. When you try to replace someone like a guy replaces a girl with a guy you still have the animel need to breed. Its what pulls us towards finding someone to pair with.I don't want to sound like im calling people animels or anything but its just the need.Even if your a guy who likes other men, he stills has that need to breed. All his done is replace that large female rule with a man.But has kept some parts.Woman do this with other women,i've seen alot of guys with guys and theres always one that plays the "female" part.No matter how far they pull from the need to be with a woman they still need to fullfill that need to breed that we all unkowning want. The only thing that has changed is who they've picked to "pair" with.I have a few gay close friends and its been on my mind for a while so i've been putting mind to this subject alot. But i hope that helps just alittle.

It's all about personal preference. I know many gay men that you would never suspect are gay. They are the rugged, cowboy type. But I also know several that are very flamboyant, and some that cross dress. Most of my flamboyant type friends are attracted to the more rugged, handsome type. Same thing goes for the women. I'm bisexual, and I'm attracted to all kinds. For me it's more about personality than anything. If you can make me laugh, I'm hooked.

Jayelle hit it right on the money. There are some gay men within the homosexual community that are very rugged and masculine. These men are knowns as "bears". Their preferences can range from masculine to feminine.

This question came up today in the office. I was told by a female that she wants to feel the softness of a woman, the caress and the care that a woman can give. She doesn't want the roughness in a man, but she does like to get done with a dil do. And men, I guess, like the looks of a woman meaning a ss and ti ts, but they like to get done in the booty. Ha!Ha!Ha!

Just like not all women are attracted to the same type of man, and all men are not attracted to all women, homosexual men are not all attracted to the same type of men.

It's a cultural thing I think, homosexuality in different cultures is much different then it is in western society.

To each their own.

I think it's just the nature of men and women. I truly believe that gay men and women who are attracted to men and women that you are describing are confused and don't really know what they want. I have seen what I would call "real gay couples" and they are attracted to very handsome men and very beautiful women...I usually think to myself "what a waste". So when it comes to gay issues and gay rights I try to stay clear of those conversations. Did that help any?

Some men are attracted to very masculine-looking men. Some of them hang out at my house on Sundays and watch NASCAR with me. And then there's the "bear" subculture, where men with body hair and beer guts rule.

This is a societal thing. (For the record, Im not gay...)

Think about it - since the dawn of mankind, we have been separated by sex - male and female. So, when two of the same sex gets together, there is a confusion as to who plays what role (male or female?) This is how it is dealt with.

Nothing mysterious about it.
