A period that last 2 weeks is not normal, but 4-5 days is normal. If you are physically active (dance, gymnastics, sports, running, etc) it would be normal to miss an occasional period. Sounds as though your body is just settling into what will be "normal" for you. You sound like a delightful young woman. Enjoy your teen years!!

Honey, everyone's cycle is a little different. Talk with your mom and or sister, even female cousins and see if they had similar traits. If your cycle is real different, go ahead and schedule a gyncologist examination. Take your Mom with you incase the doctor explains something that your mom can help clarify.
Since you are not sexually active, there will not be any embarrasement in going there. Sometimes a doctor will talk to the parent about "since your daughter is sexually active"...and problems can suddenly happen. Since you've conducted yourself as a decent young lady, there should not be any shame in going and having this exam done.
The doctor should show good professional manners and allow your mom to be with you, or WILL have a nurse present during the exam. If the doctor does it alone with you, that is improper. Make sure that there is always someone else trustworthy present to make sure that you are more comfortable and at ease.
In anycase, you are probably fine; your system is just trying to get revved up to how it will eventually work. I had a teacher one time whose periods were 6 month apart. She was "normal"; and actually was in the process of adoption when she didn't know she was pregnant. Her sons are just months apart, which is a hoot.
Put your mind at ease. See if your Mom or another trusted female can accompany you to have an exam done, if needed.

Hi honey, yes, this is normal, your body goes through many changes before you actually get through puberty. If at any time you have questions that you need answers to, this is a great way to find them, just pick out the right stuff for you and leave the 'junk' behind. We all have a sixth sense in us, use it constantly and continue to grow in knowledge and the security that you are allowed to know anything that you can question. Also there are many people at clinics, hospitals and health ed teachers that can give you the right answers. ALWAYS ASK ANY QUESTION THAT YOU NEED THE ANSWER TO, NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SEEMS, THEN WHEN YOU HAVE GAINED THE KNOWLEDGE IT WILL BE YOUR TURN TO SHARE. GO SLOW, BECOMING A LADY TAKES MANY YEARS OF PRACTICE! you'll get there in a blink of an eye I PROMISE...LHN

Your body is just adjusting to the hormonal change. Don't worry, 4-5 days is basically normal. I get my period for 7 days and have for so long now so be thankful for the short period time frame.

It's normal. Your period takes a while to regulate - at the beginning you can bleed more or less than what is normal for you. It may be starting to regulate now.

It sounds basically normal to me (I'm 33 years old), your menstrual cycle will fluctuate from month to month (at least it did for me)..the last one I had lasted 3 days.. the one before was 5.. so it does vary from month to month.
Also, don't worry about cramps if you have them, or bloating, it's totally normal. :)
