Our male betta has been ill. We've been treating him with BettaFix for the past week and he seems far better. During this week he's refused to eat. Yesterday he began trying again, but he spits the food out again.

My beta started doing the same thing when he got sick - he would suck the pellets in and spit them right back out. I had to switch to flake food and he's been fine eating that ever since. It's been well over a year now and he still won't eat the pellets. Try switching foods and see if that helps.

I regularly go away for a weekend, so my fish (marine and freshwater) eat for 5 days out of seven (even if I am home). I go away for a week three times a year, and never lost a fish from starvation. I would suggest however that you try something easier to swallow for something with no teeth (and next to no tongue) like frozen brine shrimp or flakes.

Ours went 14 days from the day we bought him with out eating, we tried everything, live food, pellets. until we finally decided he needed more fish to encourage him to eat (having worked with my gold fish 2 years ago it seemed logical), so we bought 4 guppies, he attacked an killed 2 of them and has eaten, live food ever since.

Betta fish can go up to ten days with out food but keep trying to feed it. Also Betta fish love blood worms, may that would be more appealing to your sick fish as well as easier to eat.

maybe he doesnt like that kind of food anymore? try a different brand.. its worth a shot.. or just keep trying every day and eventually he will eat the food... or die? sorry.. good luck!

how many pellets are u giving him or her?Your suppose yo give it 1-3 pellets a day you might be over feeding him!!!!!!!!!!!!
