I don't think that "brainwashed" people are stupid, it's just that some people are easier persuaded than others. Then, some people trust everyone and are open to "fresh" ideas. And of course young people are more easy to influence than grown ups. That is why religion is prohibited in schools.

We are all brainwashed, actually. All the concepts we hold about society and culture are merely learned. Most of how we operate day to day are just learned responses that have been reinforced by others with the same learning.

A weak minded person or someone with very low self-esteem can easily be "brain-washed"
If a woman stays with her husband who repeated beats the hell out of her is brain-washed. The crap that he tells her afterwords just reinforces the whole thing.

i think its possible to strongly influence people's decision. however, i don't believe that makes them stupid just not aware. all influences ain't bad you know!
