Quite obviously. It also showed just how much he cares for the poor.

You know it cracks me up. How can you call someone racist over hurricane Katrina. Step back and think about it people. New Orleans is 99% black and a good 80% poor. I know I lived about an hour away from it. Cmon people. Look at the big picture. And you know if you looked at your sources. You could really pinpoint the Mayor for all these. A few years ago they were given the opp to make the levee's better but a bunch of enviormentalist said no because it would endanger a little animal. It was the mayor who had all the buses and didn't use them till after the Hurricane. It was the mayor that put people in the dome instead of evac. And last I checked the Mayor is Black too. So Don't tell me that it is a racist issue. That's like saying if Mexico got hit by a hurricane and didn't get right treatment that we were racist against mexicans.

No. Hurricane Katrina helped show the world how out of touch New Orleans is with reality.
I live in a part of Florida that experienced hurricane damage from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne more than two years ago. There are STILL houses, condos, apartment buildings, warehouses, commercial properties and yes... even mobile homes, that have not even begun to be rebuilt.
We waited for weeks to get our power restored... it took days for FEMA to respond with simple aid (water, ice, food, tarps etc.), let alone begin the process of registering people for help. There are STILL people living in FEMA trailers while they wait for new roofs to be installed on their homes.
When I saw residents of New Orleans screaming racism the day after hurricane katrina hit their town I understood what absolute jerks they are. They are playing the race card, and that is Bull$hit, pure and simple.

I must disagree with you on this matter. Katrina should have shown the idiocy of the Gov. of Louisiana and the foolishness of the mayor of New Orleans. The federal government is not meant to be the first responder in the event of a natural disaster it is the state government. Instead of focusing upon the federal government look to the corruption of state and local governments first.

Bush did not cause the hurricane, but his slow response to aide the victims shows how little he cares for the American people. he can aide foreign countries with billions of dollars but not do anything to help the Americans until he is criticized and belittled.
It's a damn shame I tell you.
