We have the same problem on our basin as well, as we have a glass sink and tap. I find that rubbing a fresh lemon or lime (cut in half) on to the area - seems to get rid of it and then rinse off with water. If you have any areas where you can leave the citrus fruit on it for a while that may help for stubborn stains but I doubt if you can do that on a shower screen!!

Intervention, Mr Keynes!

You need an acidic cleaner intended just for removing mineral deposits. Viakal is one product available in UK.

To prevent limescale, you can use a daily shower spray which breaks the water's surface tension and prevents spotting. Or you can install a filter, either at the shower head or at the main water source in your home.

Use Vinegar to clean it and then get a car glass wax and wax the glass to prevent reoccurance. Just make sure you don't wax the floor of the tub.

I did this and when I finish my shower, I rinse the glass off and the water sheets away and dries in seconds. I have clear glass shower doors so any scale shows up right away. I haven't had to clean it in 6 months now.

is it limescale? my shower screen goes all smeary and dull but its dried bits of shower jel and shampoo thats got splashed up it. to keep it clear I clean it down weekly with a spray on bleach cleaner, leave it on, turn a HOT shower on which steam cleans the doors and screens, leave it running a bit then rinse them down.

Afterwards whenever the showers used just rinse the screens/doors down with water before you get out.

I'm going to try that one on TV that sprays around , by itself, after the shower is done. I'm basically lazy and put off that cleaning chore way too long. I think it's called "Shower to Shower."

That TV ad shows a bunch of houskeepers scrubbing down the shower stall.

A few applications of "scrubbing bubbles" and very little elbow grease will do it fine. Just spray it on, wait about five minutes and use a soft cloth or sponge, rinse. It may take two or more applications if the scum has been building for a while, but it does work.
