every time I try to send an email, I get "error" pop ups that prevent my sending, but I can receive mail!! I cannot communicate with my newly married son and his wife who live in Maine, on an island, with no phone! I am new on the computer and I am sure I have done something wrong trying to get set up, whatever it is I can't seem to get it un-done and I feel "stuck"!!

There are two settings in your Mail application - one set for your POP3 server (incoming) and the other for your SMTP server (outgoing).

It's possible your SMTP settings are incorrect - if you got the email address from your ISP, then you can get the correct settings from them. Chances are you have to enter your username and password to send as well due to current spam practices.

The other possibility is that your ISP doesn't allow sending of emails through Port 25. Some ISPs require that you send through another port instead. If you had posted the error you get, I could help more.

Sounds like a pop up issue.

Try holding the Ctrl key down when clicking any button that opens a separate
window. You can also set in the preferences of what sites to allow pop ups
from.

Another alternative is go into options and selected NOT to have your reply in
a seperate window.

1.) What are you using to e-mail?
2.) Have you tried going to your e-mail provider's site and signing in, then typing up the letter and sending it?

Because Yahoo doesn't let you send e-mails through programs like Outlook or Thunderbird (which is vastly better than Outlook... and free). Unless you pay.

If this is what's happening, sign into Yahoo's site and send your e-mail that way.

Then e-mail me for a Gmail invite. amandakerik @ gmail . com without the spaces.

Gmail's like Yahoo... but has less ads, organizes your e-mails into conversations (because that's what they are usually), has more space and allows you to use programs like Outlook or THunderbird to handle your e-mail.

Your pop3 setting in your outlook is not set right! You need to contact Your service provider or visit their website for theses details! After you find this info open your outlook, click tools, accounts, mail, properties, and servers and put this info in the pop3 box. Dont forget to click apply.

If you can receive then the pop3 server is ok. Do you have a smtp server assigned for sending mail?

Dear Pookie,
I think you should reboot your computer, shut down and restart...or maybe you should try the refresh button.......more than that maybe you should ask the yahoo techs.
Good Luck,
Cyncha

it might have to do with the POP server. you need to find a way to go into your POP compartment and fix it. i had to do that with mine.
