You may have irregular periods and just think you are farther along than you really are. This happened to me. Unless you only had sex that one time over 4 months ago, and none since, you could have calculated the wrong date. Or.....

You could have an abnormally small fetus and the only real way to check gestation age will be by an amniocentesis. Ultra sound only shows your Dr. the size of the fetus, and based on the size (s)he determines how far along you are.

Lets see... August 3 was 8 weeks ago... right? I think so... if you were 6 weeks along 8 weeks ago that would make you currently 14 weeks pregnant. I don't know how many weeks exactly you are "supposed" to be (I'm going to guess about 16 weeks because 16 weeks to 20 weeks is equivalent to 4 months)... but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sounds like the baby is fine. Keep going by your due date, a lot of times ultrasound measurements aren't always done correctly.

... and I don't understand how you got that you would only be over a month now...??? A month along is 4 weeks pregnant... you were not 4 weeks pregnant at the ultrasound and the ultrasound was done 8 weeks ago... so add the time up.

You were at 6 weeks (1 1/2 mo) on August 3rd and now, almost 2 months later, you don't believe you are 4 months along? What are you referring to that you'd "only be over a month now?" From what I can make of your question, the math seems to be fine enough.
It is possible for you and the doctor to be a month off from each with you both being right. It's just a matter of what day you start counting from, many doctors go from the start of your last period, but not all.
Also, ultrasounds are not perfect and it's possible that if the estimation is under yours, that you had a miscarriage and then immediately became pregnant again. If it happened soon enough, you might miss noticing anything, but it'd knock your schedule off.
So far I've been assuming regular cycles, but if you've been having irregular cycles or have been under extreme stress, things may not have happened as you think.

I wish I understood your question more but I can give you some facts that I know. A gestational pregnancy is 40 weeks long or 10 months. This is the first day of your last period. When they do the ultrasound they dont usually change the due date unless it measures over two weeks either way. A due date is basically an estimate. Ask your doctor on your next appointment. Again I do know that they calculate it from the first day of your last period.

Most babies develope the same up to about 9 weeks, so that is why they do an ultra sounds so early to see how far you are. I would go by the due date the doc gave, and remeber that some docts go by lunar months 4 weeks per month and some go by calander months some months 4 some months 5 weeks witch makes you last trimester longer than 3 months 40 weeks can be counted differently.

I have the same due date as you and I got pregnant one one of the last days in June or first days of July. Since they count back 2 weeks before that (to the first day of your last period) that would make you six weeks at the beginning of august.
It seems right to me, but the whole way they figure it is a little weird. My period ended just days before I got pregnant, and I only had it for three days, but they still count back two weeks instead of the one week it was in reality since my last period.
Also remember each month is four and a half weeks, so if you're sixteen weeks now that's really less than four months, more like three and a half, which puts us back in the later end of June for your last period.

oh my gosh. Im 15 weeks and 3 days prego and my due date is March 19!! I was confused about this at first too. You are considered pregnant the first day of your last period . does that make sense. I am getting my first ultrasound done oct 3rd and will be 16 weeks. Email me@ luvinualwayskris@yahoo.com

Awww, don't worry too much hun..The baby could just be measuring on the small side or developing a little slower, either way, when they do another ultrasound I am sure everything will correct itself if you are positive you are right. If things change, they will give you a new due date. Hugs to you.

Doctors give due dates based on last menstrual period. Ultrasounds however are more accurate for dates.
