It always seems to me that when my sim is chatting up one friend, other sims in the group are having unpleasant interactions. Do you just start throwing out members of the group as soon as you get out of the taxi? That just doesn't seem like the right solution to me.

If the other sims do not have positive relationship scores with each other, and you suddenly lump them together as a group, that's more likely to happen. If it is important to your game to have good outings, suggest that you try inviting smaller groups over for house visits - picking the ones that seem to have problems with each other. If they are controllable from another lot, get their friendships up from the minus level to at least 20 something.

Playing chess with one and then leaving the other to autonomously start playing chess w the other helps make their relationship scores better. Having dinner convos together and doing the spa can also help them have better scores with each other and make them smoother company for larger and more successful group outings.

If the others are NPCs and I can't go to their house to get them to be nice to other group members, I don't generally bother fiddling with their likes and dislikes much... unless I have (evil) ulterior motives, like matching them up with another sim for a marriage or some other sinister plot. ;)

have them go out to dinner or go bowling. it will keep all of them occupied.
