I always studied in "spurts". That is, I would study for 15 to 25 minutes, then take a break (get my mind off the test), and then come back 20 minutes later and study again. It works because studies have shown that people tend to remember things at the begining, middle, and the end of study sessions. By shortening your study time, you improve your chances by having more beginings, middles, and ends.
