First of all Rhode Island is about ten miles wide. Worse yet, it's not even a friggin Island. Delaware is just an annoyance you pass through to get to real states. Does anybody honestly say, "Yeah Man, Delaware is F'ING AWESOME!!!"

I disagree. Rhode island is an awesome state with a lot of interesting places and history. It is the most densely populated state as well (or so I've read in school). Delaware, I know nothing about, but I probably disagree with you there too.

Is it about size?!
Luxumbourg is 2,586 sq km.
Vatican City is 0.44 km²
Rhode Island is larger at 3,144 km²
Delaware is even larger at 6,452 km²
Should Luxumbourg be considered a country? Should the Vatican City?
Americans are so blind to the reality of state sizes compared to European countries.

Delaware isn't always the most interesting place, but it's a decent state. And only reason you aren't from DE is because you aren't damned good enough for it! ; ) Also don't come here, it's rated one of the ruder states in attitude so you'll get your little @ss kicked badly.
And Rhode Island, being us No. 1 & 2 of the little ones, we're cool. ; )

FYI- The real name is the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, but that name is way too long so they shortened it to just Rhode Island.

We have counties larger than those states, but what difference does that make?
At the time the US was formed, they were of an acceptable size.
