There seem to be a lot of citizens of the U.S.A. (probably the ones that support Bush and war) that use the word "liberal" in a negative way. Why? Don't they realize that "liberal" and "liberty" are connected? And why is the U.S. so far right now that someone who would've been considered a moderate conservative a few years ago is suddenly a "liberal"? How does a whole country swing so far towards Naziism in 2006?

Are you mental? Liberal and Liberty are NOT connected. Liberals are breaking crosses off war memorials thus removing my right to religious expression... hence freedom of speech. They're fighting to remove God from public light thus removing my right again to religious expression all because some gimp is afraid of burning in hell for living a deviant lifestyle. They promote homosexual marriage and gay rights thus destroying the traditional family and deconstructing society and its moral fabric. They also enslave minorities by causing racial division. Conservatives have done more for the "LIBERTY" of minorities than liberals ever have in the entire history of this country.

But I will agree. Making fun of someone for having a mental disorder called Liberalism isn't really nice, and maybe we should be a bit more sensitive towards their illness.

Society and persons make a note 'undesirable' by way of their reaction to it. If a small baby stands in the front of you and says 'bit@hbit#hbit@h" and also you do not reply, the youngster, failing to get a reaction from you, will maximum likely no longer do it back. If instead you teach, 'no no it truly is a nasty note etc." you've given the note ability, and the youngster is composed of understand s/he can wield ability via use of that note. If a note 'must be reliable'? nicely, words don't have any ability on their very own and they definitely don't have any will!- the merely ability a note may have is ability we provide to it. for this reason you could reduce that is impact by keeping no reaction to it. it may take generations, although, to attempt this on a large scale.

Well, sadly for about the same reason people use the word "conservative" or "Republican" as bad-words... Or even "Nazism"

As you might notice, the Democrat & Republican parties pretty evenly split the US population in most polls.

I think a great deal of the cause is because most people get their political views from TV & Political Ads... quick, very partisan, and often downright dirty.

I'd like to see more people reading... and reading... and reading... and THEN making their decisions. Also, engage in Civic Participation between elections.

I'm an Environmental, semi-liberal, California Republican

Liberal isn't a bad thing, it's just used in a bad sense by Conservatives and some Libertarians (Conservatives in denial).

The word is pretty much used by them synonymously with hippie and/or socialist.

The Conservative need to pick something out to be against. The "whole" country has not taken the swing to Naziism, just Bus, Faux News, and their followers (in the mid 30% of the country).

I am a child of the 60's and proud to be a liberal and a christian. I am so sick of the current administration using God as a shield to weld against those of us who don't what to violate others rights. I believe in gay marriage not because God says its right but because there is no place in the constitution to find a way to say no. Our Christian God clearly say no but we decided a long time ago to separate church and state something liberals remember and other forget. I believe that if we use our liberal voices in November and elect a Democratic congress and Senate that we may be able to stop the tide of their behavior. All of us must make an effort to help everyone we know get out and vote because they are going to be desperate and they will try every dirty trick in their bag to change the outcome of this election. So become active in helping get absentee ballots for the handicap you know or drive people to the polls anything you can do to help get the vote out.

The right wing talk show jocks made the term liberal a dirty word. I am beginning to get a sense the it is being taken back. For a time people were replacing "progressive" for liberal. Now, it seem, that the response is "Your damn right I liberal, what's it to ya?"

What in the world are you talking about, I know allto of liberals who are not offended by being called what they are, if you don't take the word liberal as an insult where is the problem. I don't take being called a conservative as an insult, but evil,anti-American,bigot,greedy,selfish,scumbag, those I do take as an insult because I am a conservative not evil incarnate.

Amen to that, it is the people that do not believe in liberty and justice for ALL who try to make liberal a bad word. Those with there head stuck so far up there butt that they can not see the world around them, that think Bush and this war are good things.

Liberals have a right to their opinions. I do not consider liberals or conservatives bad. What is bad, in my opinion, if their views are extreme.
