Is there really any person who is a true atheist? I mean, an atheist makes the statement, "There is no God." But this is an absolute statement, and the only way one can answer an absolute statement is with absolute knowledge. No man has absolute knowledge so no man can really make an absolute statement correctly.

Of coarse I could be wrong about no man having absolute knowledge becaue I don't know everyone. If you do have absolute knowledge, could you let me know, I have a lot of questions for you.

Aside from all that, in answering this question, please remain polite, both to me and one another, no name calling. I am just curious as to who out there really believes they are a true atheist and how those who call themselves atheists answer this particular dilemna.

I'm an atheist, until there's proof of a god. Without evidence, its just fanciful thinking. Science is open to the reality of a god, just produce the evidence. Because the bible says so or the existence of complex organisms, the sunset, birds, etc. is not proof.

Theists refer to the complexities of nature and say "how can it NOT be created by God?". This line of thinking reminds me of the movie "the God's Must Be Crazy." a native in the Kalahari Desert encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. I found this to be very amusing, but I also began to see parallels between his thought process, and that of the modern day Theist. Both are using CAVEMAN LOGIC to explain their world. I fail to see the difference between “hmm, bottle fall from sky, must be gods” and “hmm, trees, conception, beautiful sunset and butterflies prove the existence of god.”

In both of these cases, someone is simply replacing one unknown for another unknown, but proving nothing!

Well, you make a false premise in your question - that no man can make an absolute statement without absolute knowledge and no one has that. Actually with logic, we can make some very limited statements with absolute certaintly, however useful that is. For example a number cannot be both bigger and smaller than 5.

But I agree with you that certainly, barring the existence of some kind of "magic" that I have never experienced, I think we are limited to only being able to make absolute statements on things derived from reason, and highly probable statements derived from our observations.

So, no one can claim also that there is a god? Your logic is a bit flawed and reflects a naive understanding of what "knowledge" is. Briefly, very few accept the idea that knowledge is absolute (a rather Platonic notion). Knowledge is, roughly, justified true belief that survives falsification, based on evidence. Where's the evidence either for or against the existence of god? Seems like there is more evidence for the lack of god, let alone a god of a specific type.

good logic and logical thinking. but the existence and the belief in "g-d" defies logic. It is not logic. It is feeling, it is belief and not a mathematical formula like 2+2=4. Once you differentiate that from the "proof" and what you call an absolute statement, then you are on the road to accept both the atheist i.e. the non-believer and the believer. Because it is not to their logic that you should be directing your question and seek an "absolute answer". There is none. some believe, others don't -- accept it the way it is.

An atheist is actually "one who believes that there is no deity." They are not making a statement of absolutes anymore than one who is not an atheist. Otherwise, non-atheists would be making the statement "there is a god," and there you are back at the beginning.

I well make life simple for you. with the assumption that the only source claims there is a God is the church and they gave us literature and some speech to support there claims, we studied these literature and found out that it is false or incorrect and as result we can say "there is no God" and it is absolute statement based on the assumption that there are no body or no other source claiming the concept of God except the Church.

There is also no absolute truth in saying that there IS a god either.

I'm a secular humanist and an evolutionist. The reason I believe the way I do is that at least I have SOME proof and scientific evidence backing up my belief.

The definition of an atheist does not have to identify the Christian God at all.

Atheist: a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings

to all the atheists...look around...i mean really take the time to examine some of the things around you...conception...the way the world turns...the changing of the seasons...it is preposterous to think that all these things could have just happened...and evolution? Really? I mean REALLY? We all started out as slimy sea creatures? And if so why did we transform? It all sounds like some kind of demented dilusions from some mad man who has been locked up in an asylum all his life....no offense
