Lessee...
If Nicole bought a bracelet for $ 0.80 that would be 80 cents, wouldn't it? I think you have the $ on the wrong side of the .80. To restate, Nicole bought a bracelet for 80 cents and a ring for 50 dollars, for a total of 50 dollars and 80 cents ($ 50.80)
You really should pay attention in class.

Well the decimal is in infront of the 8 which obviously makes it 80 cents, even though you put the dollar sign in the wrong place. So Nicole paid 80 cents for her bracelet. Which I'm pretty sure would never happen in real life, it's to cheap for her!

The solution is she paid 80 cents. You really should go back to 1st grade math. Or maybe reading?

well either you misstated your problem or .... you are not seeing the obvious.
if she bought a bracelet for $.80 then .... whoa sit down for this one she paid $.80 for the bracelet. the fact she bought a ring and how much doesnt affect the bracelet information.
i'm thinking you misstated your problem

Am I being completely daft here, or did she pay what I believe you Americans would call 80 cents? Compute what? The answer is in the question, which was obviously set by your president.
