It depends on how much time you have. If you have a lot of time. Take notes on everything that will be on the test, put it on index cards and test your recall. Limited time, just read the as much of the text as you can the day before the test then go to bed. You will retain much more than if you study something else or even do something else.

Read and know the material. Make a test for your classmates to take. This helps you understand what items in the material would make good test questions, and helps your friends to study too. Have them make up a test for you using the same material. Do this in separate rooms so you won't influence each other.

Get together with friends, get a whiteboard and markers and go at the material until you've gone through everything everyone has questions or unsureness about.
