I think that we should band that drink forever. I am afraid to walk home from school some days because of that. I think the world would be better off without that drink don't you. I don't want my 13 year old brother to start

I think you mean alcohol.

Anyway, they did try banning it during the 1920's in the USA. It was called the prohibition and it didn't work at all. What happened was that criminals got into selling it or people made it at home. There was lots of crime and violence associated with the illegal production. Things were even worse than when it was legal and the money went to criminals instead of taxes to the government.

If people drink in moderation there is no problem. I only have a drink to relax or socialise and I never get drunk. A glass of wine or two per day is healthy for the body. I don't drink and drive either. Your brother should not be drinking at 13. The law says 18 or 21 depending on the country so really the problem is not the current law, it is people abusing the law. As I said before, banning it will make that worse, it has all been tried.

People should concentrate on education about drinking rather than banning. Especially education of young people. Drink sensibly and observe the law. Don't let underage people have access to alcohol and don't drink and drive.

I don't believe we should ban alcohol. In fact, we tried that once, and the results were disastrous. However, we should take responsibility for our health choices, and excessive alcohol consumption is just one great example of how many of us fail in this respect. The United States is also a very obese nation, and we could improve the world a lot just by staying fit and eating better.

It's good that you feel a sense of responsibility toward your brother. I'm sure you'll be a great support for him as he begins to make all kinds of tough decisions. Best wishes to you.

I dont think we should. i just think we need more responsible drinkers. unfortuanatly w/ the age limit, it makes it more appealing to younger ppl, because they are doing something naughty and against the law. Im not for lowering the age limit at all, dont get me wrong. Im just saying there are some stupid ppl out there that shouldnt be taking that first drink.

I like alcohol, because it calms me down when i've had a rough week or day. I dont drink till i get drunk, i drink to get comfy - then i stop (and no matter how many i have, i dont drive)

sure..... the world would be better off w/o alchohol.......... today........... but in the middle ages, wine was a type of medicine........ i just wish we could use alcohol today as a type of fuel other than gas.................. as for your brother............. tell him........ he'll listen, even if he won't act like it.
