iraq is only getting worse

You must have listened to the retired generals who claimed Iraq is a mess and the secretary of defense is screwed up.

The military experts get their information from the same place you do. They have no special training on what is needed to fuel democracy or domesticate culture. What they are really good at is designing war.

If you are able to be persuaded so easily answer this: Why does Islam allow adult men to marry nine year old little girls? or, why isn't rape a crime in Iran?

Iraq isn't getting worse we are. We are telling the rest of the world including fanatical islam that our president is a liar and he blew up the world trade center and probably wants to kill all peaceful Islamic culture. With little imagination and no formal education I would believe anything I was told also.

For the RepubliQaedans it's staying the course, so they can continue to benifit from terrorists actions. This way they can continue to grow their big oil portfolios, keep the Bin Laden family happy, and keep Cheney's pension from Halliburton growing until they surpass Warren Buffet on the list of wealthiest Americans. I intentionally left out Bill Gates because they could never surpass him. At least, until he is closer to death and donates the majority of his holdings to charity. Too bad there aren't more rich people like him and Mr Buffet. Instead the RepubliQaedans are getting richer and keeping it all to themselves while they continue to give themselves more tax breaks.

ggraves17... Why should we care? We have enough problems plaguing our own nation. It seems the right wing is littered by those with little imagination and no formal education. If we should follow your description, after all, y'all still believe the mission accomplished mantra. Like they say, "ignorance is bliss." Unfortunately, I don't subscribe to that thinking, I am not afraid to question our leaders, republiQaedan or democrat. I am also not afraid to speak my opinion whether it be of conservative, or liberal ideology.

So long as Iraq's government is unwilling to crack down on Sunni insurgencies and unwilling to disarm militias in the Shi'ite strongholds, this stuff is going to continue to happen. It's DECADES of pent up hatred between Shi'ites and Sunnis. This is not something the US created, it's been there, and was silenced by Saddam's draconian measures. If Maliki is willing to use draconian measures to silence the insurgency, then perhaps it will fade, but right now, the Iraqi military and government is in the hands of Iraqis and it is their baby, so we need to be there to make sure they succeed and quit bellyaching about sectarian violence that is BOUND to happen and play itself out. The country is at war, death is the price paid for bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq (they aren't used to it and are in the growing pains of a new society forming). These are the prices we paid in 1770-1781, but few in America choose to reflect on that.

Staying the course is much worse. Bush doesn't understand or admit that he erred in judgment; so he will let this continue to grow...
