The attack in Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, came as a new poll by the State Department and independent researchers indicated a strong majority of Iraqis want U.S.-led military forces to withdraw immediately from the country. The poll, obtained by The Washington Post, showed, for example, that nearly three-quarters of Baghdad residents would feel safer if the U.S. and other foreign forces left Iraq with 65 percent favoring an immediate pullout. About six in 10 Iraqis say they approve of attacks on U.S.-led forces, and slightly more than that want their government to ask U.S. troops to leave within a year, according to a poll in that country.Almost four in five Iraqis say the U.S. military force in Iraq provokes more violence than it prevents.
This just seems to me to be senseless we are there if they do not want us to be. Is Bush hiding reasons we are there? What do you think? My husband is there, his 3rd tour in Iraq,do you think they will get to come home soon?

Well, The US is kind of screwed...damned if they do..damned if they don't. They pull out....rebels will take it as a victory...and will take control of regions not well protected....spreading hatred for the US......They don't pull out...US soldiers will continue to be attacked...insurgents will recruit...dead will pile up...and ...hatred wil grow for the US......very simple solution...don't pull out...but don't stay any longer........bring in united nation forces...i don't care if it's 2 guys from ireland....change all american flags...all american uniforms....to that of the UN, perception needs to change..if they percieve that it is united nations...then they cannot channel their anger into one country..as this is battle that the US has dragged every nation into...and so...every nation needs to go in...and drag all of us out...and make damn sure the US never does this again. Any war is wrong....Afghanistan..I can understand..but the IRAQ war..is by far the worst badly thought out war the US has entered. If a canadian PM did that...he would be out of office by know..especially with all the detials we have now. Can't the US force a president out for making so many mistakes or is that only reserved for having relations outside your marriage..which is clearly far far worse than 2500 dead americans...???

The Washington Post is a tool of the liberal propaganda machine. I wouldn't lend them much trust. It's easy to take polling data or statistics out of context and use them to twist the truth.
The Iraq government can ask us to leave any time they are ready to take over the full responsibility. So far they aren't ready. The terrorists have the most to gain if we leave without finishing the job first. Has your husband's experience led him to believe that the strong majority of Iraqis want us out? Typically soldiers report that the law abiding citizens in Iraq are glad we are there to help.
I do not believe Bush is hiding the reasons we are there. I don't think our troops will be coming home soon. Please tell your husband that I said thank you for serving this great nation.

Actually, they need to increase the number of troops (US or otherwise) to stop the violence and once and for all disarm the people. Perhaps just use the US Troops as a border patrol to stop Iran/Syria from smuggling weapons to the terrorists (and at the same time exposing the countries for what they are...terrorist supporters). Let any coalition or Iraqi regulars stop the inner violence that occurs on a day to day basis. Once the inside is cleaned up, then let the Iraqi's secure their borders so we can pull out.
That are is just too small to stop outside influence from causing problems. So many of the people (and you husband will attest to this) want freedom and want a democratic government without day to day violence. The people causing the problems are those that just seek power and control (either for themselves or for those they serve.)
To all the men and women in Iraq....we offer our support and prayers. Godspeed.....

I HATE seeing US forces die in Iraq. But if we withdrawl now Iraq will only Fall. Radical Mus;ims want the ENTIRE world to either DIE or CONVERT to Radical Islam. We gotta fight this to the Fullest. Iraq is FAST turning into a POLITICAL war. aka Vietnam. ALL those Libs screaming the loudest NOW SUPPORTED this war in the begining. Sometimes what appears to be the best solution isn't always the case. Pulling out Sounds Great. Get our troops home NOW. I know, BUT it would make it worse. I know it's Hard to even Imagine that but it would. Hopefully Muslims will Rise up and Remove the Radical Growth Devouring there religion and Our troops can come Home Soon.

Not yet,we need to educate our self first.Ignorance,by not understanding who we are dealing with, staging fraudulent acts and trying to convince ourselves that if we keep repeating the same lies again and again, and hoping that will make them true, WILL NOT work. Have you ever consider proposing to a person to love you and marry you, with a gun in your hand pointed to his or her head. Our democracy is a way of life you fall in love with, not to accept it because of our fears.
So we must understand we can not win by fooling our selves.
The only way out is to help them the way they want to be helped
and live their life according what they believe.
"Live" and "let live" is the answer.
We need to get back working on our own problems, and save our own democracy, economy and way of life, otherwise we are going to loose it.
