This may sound like an odd question from a woman. Why do feminsts claim they don't need men, but 98% of all the tools they use daily and will use were and are invented by men? These inventions inlcude anything from bras, to makeup, (Max Factor) to computers, to cars, to just about anything.

My point is, if feminists claim to simply want respect, why not lead by example and show respect first? Isn't it true that women's lives have been made as much easier through the contributions of men as much as feminism itself?

I don't mean to sound like a traitor, but if women are going to deny truth, then are they liberated or encaged in lies?

I think its not respect that women want: its love, men naturally are born to respect, but to love, they need to learn to do that. and women naturally are born to love, in return they need to learn how to respect. Doing so i believe both sexes will be able to fulfill their need. Women have been respected they need to learn how to respect a man. Woman ignore the fact that a man is built to be respected and treated in a different man than they do their girlfriends or children. A man needs to learn how to love a woman for the gentle, beautiful creation that she is. A man needs to acknowledge that a woman has been made to adore and love. I believe when both sides practice love and respect, there is harmony, no feminists.

Ok not all feminist say they do not need men and I would say that percentage is way too high. Its not in the needing but that in whether or not a man will enrich their lives. I think that feminst are very much misunderstood by today's society. Much of what feminist want is just to be paid an equal wage and taken seriously as people. That does not mean they never need anyone else including men in their lives. They just seek a life where they do not have to depend on men for their livelihood and and for their identity. Once upon a time women had no choice but to go from daddy's home to hubbies home, be a good mother and wife and that is all not realizing their hopes, dreams and pursuing a career of their choosing. Hon, there is a difference.

I think that some feminists have given the equal rights movement a terrible name, by showing that a woman can be just as sexist and bias as a man. Getting even is not the same as getting respect.

You are only a traitor to those who would define for you what your role as a woman should be. And you are a traitor to yourself if you don't be yourself.

Men have accomplished more because they have had more opportunities, that's all. I think it's going to be great for everyone when we stop keeping score and let everyone do what they are capable of, and let everyone be themselves.

I support you and your nice boobs 100%.

The only idea of feminism is not that we don't need men, but just that women deserve equal rights and equal opportunities wiht men. Feminism is nothing else but a one and hard struggle for achieving right for vote and participate in political decision, right for equal education and work and nowadays for equal payment. Also, it is a struggle against domestic violence, people trafficking and dehumanization of woman's body.

If some feminists don't need men, OK, this is their private decision, but this is not at all something that they impose to society.

i agree with lanna....that is patriarichial bs....it may be recorded that men have invented more things than women...but traditionally women were not seen as capable of understanding science and math, etc., plus at one point in our history if a woman were to put forth a new and innovative idea she was burned at the stake...where as a man with the same ideas was held high in society....i condiser myself a feminist, but i refuse to have you slander me by saying that i don't respect men....my father has raised 4 childern all by himself...he has worked himself to death so that we could have a life worth living which was a hell of a lot more than what he got...i respect and love him till my heart burts and i know that there are men out there like that....for you and anyone (including feminist) to generalize a certain group is wrong...everyone is equal mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and if society had not told women they could not do hard labor they would be physically at this point ( so yes i do know biology...one of my fortes actually!)....so in conclusion you are the one encaged in lies and you need to open your eyes to the truth of the matter not the tradition.

All of those contributions that you have listed that were invented by men were invented before the women's movement. So it stands to reason that we will always use things that men invented. Women's lib was not about degrading men, or saying that they are worthless. It was about proving that women are worth just as much as men. That we are as intelligent, and just as capable to contribute ideas, thoughts, and inventions. Women are able to survive just fine on their own without a man in their lives. We can support ourselves, we can work on our cars, we can take out the trash, we can do maintenance on our homes, etc. We don't have to have a man to take care of us, that is what the women's lib movement was all about.

i dont think that if you are a feminist it means that you hate men and everything to do with them. this is the greatest misconception about feminism. its not that we need them or we dont need them . its just that we are all equal. feminism is equal rights. there will be gender gaps and men may be better in some things and women in others but the bottom line is i am woman and i can do whatever i want. be whatever i want to be. i have a choice. that is feminism.

women and men need each other.
perhaps lately some few women have decided they do not need men any longer, as they are through using them, but that does not mean that any ever say they did not ever need man at all.
some men have decided they do not need women. it is not hypocritical despite the fact they needed a mother to exist. it just means they see the possibility to exist happily for their lifetime without the other sex. mankind must mix with womankind to reproduce or at least share precious bodily fluids and eggs and so forth so we still need each other to reproduce,
BUT perhaps we do not need each other socially anymore, just biologically.
So, it is basically a choice that we are each free to make at this stage of USA civilization.
but as you imply, no man ( or woman) is an island. we all stand on the backs of those who have gone before us. many women have invented things or helped to invent things and were denied historical credit by a man's world, but they nevertheless have made many major contributions. inventing or discovering the useful X-ray machines is one thing that comes to mind.
every great man had a woman helping him and certainly came from the womb of a woman so women and was nurtured and trained by a woman or women. So women must be given their fair share of credit for the life we all share today, not just men.

Because they are mirroring the men who they think represent power & authority. They are victims of abuse & haven't yet come to grips with their past.

here is what I think, men need women and women need men. Men are actually a mutation of the x chromosome. We are females on testoserone, so really we are all the same. Some women just want to feel as powerfull as men and have penis envy, so thats my thought
