my friend wants us to go to a costume party wearing an Indian thing, a sari or whatever. i cant rember what she called them. But I'm not Indian, is it still okay?

There's no reason why not. Traditional clothing from other cultures is worn as costume all the time. Check out lederhosen or wooden shoes. Only the hyper-sensitive overly PC people would take offense. As long as you aren't doing it to mock the culture and leave out things of religious significance, you're in the clear.

Just don't be totally decked out in Indian clothes/jewelry.
You can make the sari less "indian like" by tying it some places, or getting a small one that you wear a little differently...just a possibility.

of course you can! well, first of all since it's a costume party..n 2nd, you can sport an indian outift even if you're not indian even if it weren't a costume party. i just recently visited india and most of the tourists i saw were wearing indian clothing. i thought it was the coolest thing and it's also awesome that you're considering wearing something indian, in some wy it makes me very proud to be an indian when the culture spreads. have fun :)

You can do it only if you are not wearing the full garb, you know the sari and the head scarf and the jewelry. then it becomes like a costume or a joke and that is just not funny.

sure you can wear it as long as you don't mock their culture. consider your hair color/ eye color in what color you wear though! if you wear a ttly inapropriate color then it will look cheap or unrealistic. blues, teals, and seafoam green work w/ blondes that have light eyes. for brunettes,with midtone eyes,muavish colors and lightish burgandy, or ligh fuschia. HAVE FUN!
