microwaves work by heating water so if it is regular wax like candlewax then i do not think so.
the solution is to get a big bowl and put some water in it then get a little bowl and put your wax in it and put it into the big bowl and microwave

DANGER: the water can get very hot as in above 100 degrees centigrade (boiling point of water) and when you disturb it, like when you are taking it out of the microwave will suddenly start to convert to a gaseous state and cause VERY BAD SCALDING.

be carefull

in fact boil the water and then stick you small bowl of wax into it to be on the safe side.
