My answer would be yes, It makes a conclusion to the story and it makes the movie harder to forget! I'm refering to movies like V is for Vendetta, Vita e´bella, Alien III, Sin City, and Apocalypse

I think so, because you usually don't expect it and like you said, it makes the movie more memorable.

Simply deciding to kill a hero at the end of a movie isn't enough to make it good. The quality of the movie depends on so many other things... In order for that death to mean anything to the viewer, for instance, the writer/director and the lead actor must establish a connection with the viewer... Get the viewer emotionally involved or interested, that kind of thing. There are definately movies that I've felt would have been improved by a death or by someone surviving, but a Hero Death is not something that would immediately turn a medicore movie into a good or great one...

I think it makes it harder to forget because we're so used to the hero making it.

The movie being better or not really depends on the movie and what the hero is trying to accomplish. In V is for Vendetta, he died a Martyr. It also made it much easier to accept his death because the character had no real life outside of his cause.

So agree with you. When that happens it makes the movie great. Becasue most movies have a sappy happy ending, and thats just not how things really are. I always hope that the main star or hero dies in the end. When that happens I love it. Movies with a happy ending get boring after a while and need a little change.

yes I like movies where the good guy dies in the end,, or it doesn't end happy.

I get so tired of watching movies that you already know that in the end the good guy is going to live and have the girl of his dreams and everyone will be great and wonderful.

V for Vendetta was great I loved it!!!!

i hate movie that have this big action part and something happens to the hero that you know that there is no way they possible to survive and at the end they magiclly survive. when the heros dies it adds more sadness and kills most possiblity for a next movie but i think most people are getting sick of all these action movies where u can automactilly predict the hero will surive.

i would say it depends on the movie.. i mean, if you were watching the lion king with a little kid and simba dies, no. if your watching a movie like 9/11 or something, then yes. it all depends on the movie.

I'm not sure if it makes it better but it definately makes it atypical for Hollywood. Sometimes not every story has a "happy" ending.

Vendetta is good but once they save a life or whatever, you don't want them to die.

Aggh! Why, you!! You ruined the plot of "V" for me! I hope you're happy.

In answer to your question, only if it stars Orlando Bloom should the main character die in the end.
