They have as good a chance as anyone. Actually better.
Their bullpen is the srongest in the league, and pitching wins pennants.
If they remain hot (and finish strong in Arizona), they are poised for an interesting post-season!

Haha, what's with all these "no" votes?
Since that fluke Monday Massacre the Padres have gone 7-1 while the vaunted Dodgers have gone 4-3. Hoffman has gone on to convert 5 saves in 5 opportunities while only giving up a single hit.
Overall the Padres have the 2nd best pitching staff in the Majors, the best in the NL, and the best bullpen in the Majors. They have the best road BA and SLG in the Majors, as well. The DESTROYED the Dodgers in the season series, have taken 2 of 2 so far from the Red Birds and are on their way to a sweep, and are in a great position going into the post season. They match up well with many teams because of their great pitching. Their hitting is the best on the road and at home it has improved drastically in the month of September.
They've proven they can beat the Cardinals.
They've proven they can beat the Dodgers.
And their pitching translates to the best matchup against the Mets in the NL.
Do I believe they're the best team in the NL? No. Do I think they're going to the World Series? They most certainly could, and anyone who says otherwise simply isn't looking at the facts.

The Padres' pitching has the 2nd best ERA and the best avg against in the MLB. While the starters are probably average or slightly above, record wise, the Padres' bullpen is as deep as it gets in baseball. And bullpens nearly always figure to be a major ingredient in the playoffs, so I like the Padres' chances as much as any team in the MLB. And as hot and together in team play as they are playing right now, they can beat any team put against them right now, so yes....I do believe the Padres are World Series bound.

San Diego will choke. Just like they did last Monday up by 4 in the bottom of the ninth. Dodgers ran off 4 home runs in a row and a game winner in the tenth. 2 of those were against their star closer Hoffman.
San Diego will lose in the first round to the Mets. The Dodgers will beat the Cards and you have a Mets v Dodgers NLCS.
GO DODGERS!

Mets won the season series with the Padres 5-2, so it does not look good for SD. Sorry.

nope, they might be able to win the NLDS but I'm sorry: the phillies or dodgers would lose the first game against peavy but could win all the others. however, the pads are begtter then they were last year. I think the dodgers or phils could beat the mets.
