If someone has written you check....Pay to the order of: YOUR NAME
then you sign the back of the check to verify that you are the person named on the front or that you are a valid representative from the business depending on your situation. You will need to show ID so have it ready. You will need to sign on the TOP line. If there are no lines then when you flip check over make sure that the name of payer is in accordance to where you are signing.
Once you have signed the check anyone can cash it. So make sure that it is written to you correctly and ONLY SIGN IT RIGHT BEFORE YOU CASH IT!
