Great question! One can envision a couple of alternatives for three stranded sexual reproduction. One would be that one partner would contribute two set of chromosomes. The other would be that three gametes would be required for reproduction. There can only be one egg cell, so there would be two sperm cells. Assuming the same model as with two stranded DNA, a female would be XXX, a male would be either XXY or XYY. Each sperm cell would exclude other sperm cells from the same sex once it has penetrated the egg cell. So fertilization would require a XXY and a XYY male. All of the fertilization would have to happen in a very short period of time, so simultaneous orgasm would be required. There would be many more males than females. Sounds good to me, but then I'm a female.
It's may be to strange for some to conceive, but it is possible for this to happen. The amino-acids that DNA is made of can be arranged in almost limitless forms. A map of the USA has been made of amino-acids using equipment similar to animal DNA sequencers.

The number of genders and the number of DNA strands are not related.
We get one set of chromosome from each parent i.e. two : we are diploid). So to have three genders you think of having a triple sets of chromosomes (triploid?? beings) but that has nothing to do with the strands of the DNA helix

DNA has 2 strands (fyi first answerer), and if it had three, it would not be DNA and there would be a whole new domain of life.

no and DNA is made up of a lot more than 3 strands, but what yer thinking of is the XX and XY stuff XX= female XY = male
