WAY to many to count! and there are many different types of scietists out there, it just depends how you concieve them. (every doctor could be considered a scientist.)

Lots, but it is hard to provide references, the Republicans in power farmed all their jobs out to India and China.

Difficult question because there is lots of scientific areas.
math,physics, biology ,engineer sciences,space sciences,...
I guess,may be more or less 1000 000 scientifics work in USA.
But honestly, I not sure for the exact number of scientists work
in USA.
