I am trying to incorperate it into my lab project and I forgot what it means.

It means its expensive and your hesitating paying for it but you know you must so its sort of like your saying holding the money in your teeth as tight as you can but you know you can't

I believe it means paying for something and pretending to want it, but you dont. I'm NOT sure though. Do you mean lying through your teeth?

it means paying for something really expensive. eg when someone says "I had to pay through the teeth for this" they mean they had to pay a lot.
