How would an ecosystem change if the trees in a certain area die off because of chemical contamination of the groundwater and suuounding surface water?

in many ways...trees help to keep hillsides stable ...so there could be slides, the now contaminated groundwater could find its way into watersheds as there is nothing to take up the water with the trees dead, the area would become barren and wildlife in this area would disappear,trees also provide shade for spawning streams and creeks therefore the water temperature would rise in the water making unsuitable to raise the fish....it just goes on on hope this was some help

that depends on too many factors to count it could just lose a tree to completly die as a sutainable ecosystem .is the contamination long term or short
what season was it when it happen? did it build slowly so that someplnts and animals may have adaped to a degree? those are just a few of the questuions needed to to be answeed inorder to give a informed answer.

If trees died off, there would be no shade and no place for animals to live. The other vegetation would eventually die due to the contaminated water. With no animals, pollination and seed-scattering would be affected. Animals eat the fruit and poop out the seeds as well as carry pollen. Insects carry pollen too.
