Because they have been lied to so much over the years that they do not know which way is up. Most blacks are not poor contrary to the rumor, they pay the same rate of taxes as whites last I checked. Black men are more likely to be killed by violence yet the Democrats would take away their ability to defend themselves. Gun control in America began as a Jim Crow law. Blacks have the highest church attendance of any racial groups, yet they continue to vote for candidates that reject their values.
Blacks are routinely ignored because Democrats know they have the black vote in their pockets. Blacks need to reassess whose side they are on.

Because the Democratic party is said to be the one which looks out for the disenfranchized, the poor, they are more culturally sensitive etc., etc. Of course these things aren't necessarily true. In fact neither party is looking out for their interests %100. Voting Republican is like voting for wealthy blow hards who never encountered an underprivliged person, in their lives (in the opinion of many). This is not to say that every black person is underprivliged, or needs government assistance which is another myth that some like to perpetuate, just like the myth that democrats are somehow better for the blacks.

Conservatives today were the Democratic Party of then, just more "religious" fanatic and more pro-rich. The Republican Party, likewise, became the Liberals of today, except now, they want to protect the people AND farm animals. That's the truth, in a nutshell, anyway.
And RLP, how dare you say that Uncle Clarence Thomas is anything worth talking about, or Condi Rice? Colin, I agree, but the others are just ***-kissers of the Conservatives. Just lil' ol' house slaves.

In my state of Wisconsin we have a republican trying to unseat a democrat for governor. I was listening to the debates. Doyle was talking about was he believed was possible to do and Green was making so wide promises that I strongly doubt that it is physically possible for him to achieve half of his promises. For example he wants to cuts tuition prices, increase spending on all major spending programs in the state regarding education, transportation(in other words all major spending programs) and cut taxes, government spending. It isn't possible to do both to the degree he is promising.
So basically my experiences is the exact opposite. We in Wisconsin could use a little less talk and a little more do from the republicans.
In general I think that blacks look for change. Conservatives by definition want to resist change. Therefore democrats are the only other option. Make republicans the party of change and blacks would be more interested.

When a Dem comes up for an office, where do they go?? To the minorities, and Im not just talking about blacks either... I mean, with most minorities, if they can live for free, (look at New Orleans, Katrina victims) then they will vote for who ever has the best to offer them, which is usually the Dems!!

Because in present times, Democrats care more for blacks than Repulbicans.
Most people are intelligent enough to realize that...."I helped your 50 years ago" is not a good political excuse when you're feeding the rich and starving the poor, who..."just happen"....to be african american.

YOU ARE CORRECT.
Republicans have Condi, Colin, and Clarence Thomas.
All impressive people who are VERY qualified for their positions. I would vote for Condi for President.
Democrats - YOU have Al and Jesse - jokes!
Oh yeah, Bill - our first 'black' President...what a disgrace to people of color to call him that. Who was black in HIS cabinet? Some guy named Brown had a minor role. Can't think of anyone else.
