The baby seems to be large and the doctor said the head is big and is still up very high and not dropping. She said the possibility of a caesarian is high, if the baby does not drop down in position. She is not dilated at all. No women in our family, including myself, have been able to deliver naturally. I was hoping for a natural childbirth for my daughter. Can't the baby drop at the last minute when labor starts?

Of course! She has two weeks to go until full term. I believe my baby was not in position until about a week before. My labor was rough, but I did it naturally. Good luck!

At 38 weeks the chance of the baby turning and dropping into the correct position is slim. There are some things the doctor can do to try to make the baby move, although I am not sure what they are, I have heard they are painful. Even though you wanted a natural childbirth for your daughter, be happy that you are getting a grandchild and no matter how they arrive, they are still such a blessing.

Its possible but her doctor probably meant that the baby's head might be too big to go down through the birth canal. I would plan on having a Cesarean but hope for a natural birth... but either way your going to be a grandma in a couple weeks!!! As long as the baby is healthy and safe it doesn't matter how he is delivered. Good Luck to your daughter and have fun spoiling your grandchild!

Normal length of pregnancy is between 38 and 42 weeks, which means she still has about 4 weeks until she has to worry. My daughter didn't drop until I was in labor with her. I also didn't dialate at all until labor started.

If her doc is already telling her she'll have a c-section, she needs to question it. Doc seems to not be very supportive. She should say no to any iduction methods her doc wants to use becasue that will lead to a higher chance of c-section because the baby isn't ready to be born. Not because she's unable to deliver vaginally.

Yes its very possiable the baby can still drop.As you said though the Dr stated the baby was big it just might not be a wise idea to try and dealiver vaginally.I actually didnt drop until 39 weeks with my first.Good luck and congrats.

My daughter was due on March 12th, 2003...I was induced on the 25th, and finally had her at 1:09 am on the 27th. She did not drop at all the whole time...My midwife suggested that I do some pushes to urge her to drop...and to just relax and wait....and this was just a few hours before I actually had her...There is no telling when the baby will drop. You really never know. Good luck!

Yes, the baby can drop, but if it doesn't have any more room to turn the opposite direction, then it will most likely be a section.
Some doctors try to turn the baby themselves while the baby is still inside. It is painful for mother and baby. Caeserean seems like the easiest and safest route.

With my 1st 2 pregnancies, I went to the well being care expert at precisely 8 weeks and have been given an ultrasound. With this being pregnant, I went at 6 weeks pregnant to verify the being pregnant (especially to do examination and attempt), then went at 9 weeks for a 1st prenatal bypass to and then I had to return at 11 weeks and finally have been given my 1st ultrasound. i grow to be so mad bc it had replaced lots interior the previous 2 one million/2 years. I had to have 3 diverse visits earlier i ultimately have been given to work out the toddler. i grow to be only approximately out of my 1st trimester and that i did not comprehend it lots, yet now issues are great! i think of that's totally familiar so which you would be able to could wait till 8 weeks. it is so as that as quickly as you have an ultrasound, they are in a position to get stable measurements on the toddler.

Hi. My sister was in the exact same situation just last week. They did a c-section too. The baby was not going to drop, and I think they kinda knew that when they scheduled the c-section. Now she has a beautiful baby girl. Good luck!

She still has two weeks for the baby to "drop" and while not likely because of your family history, she may still be able to have it naturally. But... anything can happen. Congratulations on becoming a grandparent!!
