I read that 7/11 stores are dropping Citgo as their gasoline supplier. Citgo is from Hugo Chavez's Venezuela. I think this will be an effective punishment for Hugo's horrid behavior. Is boycotting a good idea?

No!
Because he criticized the moron in office. You'd rather buy oil from the corrupt Saudis who are complicit in 9/11, who met with the hijackers in San Diego, who gave millions to terror groups, who build fundamental wahabi mosques the world over?
Get your heads screwed on straight. All Chavez did was mock the ****** we have as a leader.

I work for 7/11 and everything at work has been better since we dropped Citgo! We got new gas pumps and people aren't even complaining about not being able to use their Citgo gas cards. Gas has gone down too and I don't mean as a whole. Since we get our gas elsewhere now we can offer better prices because we're not paying a middle man. Plus, who wants to basicly sponsor someone that hangs out with known terroists?

I understand why they would not want to be associated with Hugo Chavez. I fear that the only people who will be affected are the workers at Citgo in Houston. I admit I have mixed feelings about it.

It just doesn't matter in this situation. You see, Citgo's contract with Southland (7/11) ceases in December 2006. Southland decided over a year ago to market their own brand of gas and has been speaking with Sinclair refinery (and others) to do just that, (sell gas as 7/11 gas), so the timing of Chavez' instability is kind of a Public-relations windfall for Southland corp., making it seem like Southland's decision is a patriotic one when it was actually decided over 18 months ago.
To be fair, Chavez' firing 18,000 Venezuelan oil workers in 2002 probably prompted Southland's foresight though...,
wouldn't you agree?

ABSOLUTELY. Why sould we be pumping money into a government that surpresses it's citizens? I also heard that the Florida Turnpike Authority is kicking Citgo out of its service plazas

Only if you are naive enough to think that this will change anything. Where did americas over inflated sense of self importance come from? Some other country will buy the oil.
