I am looking to find out the current rate of Property Taxes in California. Is there a website that lists the percentage that anyone knows about? Any information or even the rate and how you got it would be great.
Thanks in advance!!

Property taxes varies from city to city and county to county even they are all within the same state. It all depends on the community's budget for municipal and social services such as schools, police, fire rescue and parks etc. So in San Francisco, a property owner will pay more taxes than say a farming community outside the city.

From the information you provided, no one can give you any accurate tax rate here. However, if you know the county or the city you are interested, you can go to the county/city government's web site and search under "property tax assessor". Once you get into that site, it will have information about the mileage (tax $ per thousand of property value). Better yet, if you know an exact address or a property owners name, you can search under that. Then they will give you just about anything you need to know about the property including tax assessed to that particular property. At lot of times, they call that "Tax Roll or County Records".

Example, on your browser, type in "San Mateo County, property tax assessor, California" and it site will come on. Go to the left side and you will see the selection for "Property tax and assessment look-up", click on it and you are in. Have fun.

Property taxes are not state, they are city and county. so if you get a property outside of a city, you only have one property tax instead of too.
