Why is it that moss or green stuff only grows on the north side?

My brother just washed his mobil home and he wanted to know what the green stuff was on the north side of his home, I told him it was moss. He thinks im crazy. I told him moss grows only on the north side of trees, he said this is a house not a tree house. HAHAHAHA I didnt laugh that much . So thats the big question of my day, MOSS. thanks for answering- have a nice day.

It would be really tough for moss to get started on any side of a mobile home. Aluminum or fiberglass isn't a tree or rock.

More than likely what it was was algae, especially if it looked like it was STAINED green or painted green. Moss would have an almost furry texture and would be about 1/4th to 1/2 inch high.

Note: You can usually get MOSS & ALGAE killer at good L&G centers or algae cleaners to get the green stains off.

In northern latitudes, the north side of trees and rocks will generally have more moss on average than other sides. This is assumed to be because of the lack of sufficient water for reproduction on the sun-facing side of trees. South of the equator the reverse is true. In deep forests where sunlight does not penetrate, mosses grow equally well on all sides of the tree trunk.

because of how the sun usually shines. moss grows on the darker sides which tends to be the north

do no longer USE BLEACH ON VINYL SIDING! it is going to fade the shade, somewhat no matter if it isn't white, even no matter if it really is white you'll see the section you wiped clean stand pleased with something of the siding. power washing with immediately water works for me, I had pink stains on white siding from blooming flowers, alongside with mould and mold and stress on my own worked. you could employ one in case you do not have one.
