There are many reasons why blacks do not stick together. One reason is stemmed from slavery, it is the divide and conquer theory. One set of blacks in the house the other in the field.Slavery destroyed the self esteem of many black people and it brought about a self hatred tone to many blacks. Many blacks are still caught up in this because they were not fortunate enough to move on. Generations of families have been struggling since slavery to get a foothold, but since they have not had the economic means or the education to succeed they have failed.
When you have one uneducated, poverty stricken generation passing along hardly any information on how to make it in this world you keep this mentality going.
Fortunately we are not all victims of society and we are able to stick together and love ourselves and try to help our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Had we had even
starting fields from the beginning,(1) like not being killed for learning to read (2) like getting paid for slave labor (3) like having slave money to pass on to our children so that they would not be walking across the United States with just the clothes on their backs, I'm sure we would be more likely to understand the importance of unity.

There are alot of groups that dont stick together. If I were you I would try observing a group of women and see how much unity you have. The blacks were physically and mentally torn apart during the time of slavery. The dissension happened when one complexion was favored over another. The Germans tried the same type of brain washing among the Jews. There were some Jews picked to be guards over other Jews.

I can only speculate, and please don't get upset that I am answering this question from an outsider's perspective.
I see many black people, women in particular, as being strong willed and strong minded. That is probably a result of such relatively recent freedoms to express themselves in the world. While I admire that characteristic in individuals, when you get many people with strong wills together, there will be power struggles.
Case in point - the current Survivor show, which I only saw the first episode of but it definitely strengthened my view. Everyone wanted to be the chief and nobody liked someone else telling them what to do. Old scars, even if they are inherited, heal slowly.

It's because some guy named Lynch bet that he could put Blacks at a disadvantage and bet they would still be down 300 years later. He was correct. Blacks are doing wonders but to stick togehter would be to much like right. It is just like Bill Cosby said Blacks are not holding up their end of the bargain.

rise? consider yourself risen... the only people holding anyone back this day and age is themselves and their government.
If you could only clear the fog of racism and drop the veil of blame you may see this much more clearly- it isn't white people who are the enemy- its rich people.
White people are as much slaves as anyone else. The average white people ALSO hate the same white people you are referring to (and lumping the rest of them with)... the rich upper 5% of ALL AMERICANS (who hold over 95% of all wealth). You wanna point fingers, point them at the government. Rich and white they may be, but they aren't doing white people any favors either unless they can afford it.
I'm not saying that there aren't racist white people- but they're just as stupid as racist black people.
Don't worry, you can succeed, just leave your ignorance behind, quit feeling sorry for yourself, and you will see how many opportunities there really are for you.
Long story short- grow up.

I always saw the opposite. In my community they whites were scattered around and the black people stuck together real tight. If there was a fight at school and your friends were white, they all scrammed. The black kids would stick together and fight.
My 2 cents!

Huey is pretty bad-*** as he is. Now if black people only stuck together, you should be asking, what if Huey Freeman were black. Race does not impart the likelihood of being similar. I'd rather stick with kind, intelligent people of good moral character than those who through no fault of mine, were born the same colour as I.

do you know that back during slavery, the white slave owners would purposely get femal slaves pregnant to have a lighter skinned child that they would treat just a little better than the darker children, just to cause racial divisions within the slave population? black people will only stick together when they learn that someone choosing to be educated isn't an "oreo", and that everyone, not just blacks, are people. everyone needs to stand together as Americans.
