I didn't know, and I do find it scary. I live about 5 miles from London City Airport, and the planes fly quite low over my house as we are both in a landing path and under the holding pattern. I've always thought something like that might happen. Thank goodness it didn't today.

the report of an incident on january 10 was released today. it was a autopilot failure but the captain managed to control the situation. however we might not have known anything about it because the incident was not reported for three weeks , and vital information could have been lost. terriable reli!!!!!!!

No, that was on 10 January. The report was only released today. But if they said that right up front it wouldn't have seemed so exciting.

As mentioned above, this happened back in January 06. All that happened was the autopilot was descending too steeply, the pilot noticed this and corrected it. 'Almost crashed' is media exaggeration, in my opinion

AIr traffic is so heavy over our major cities that I'm not surprised.
We need more controllers and airports. Not scary, just stupid.
