Australia became a federation on the 1st January 1901. We have our own states and federal parliament and a prime minister.

We also have the Governor-General who is the Queen's representative. We are part of the British commonwealth, so the Queen is the head of Australia.

Hope that is useful

Absolutely not. Australia is a sovereign state with its own parliament and has its own state and federal governments.

Some would say, however we are a colony of the US, God help us!

Jules, Australia.
