A count is a nobleman in most European countries, equivalent in rank to a British earl. The word count comes from French comte, itself from Latin meaning "companion", and later "companion of the emperor, delegate of the emperor".

'Count' is a title of NOBILITY (equal to the British Earl) meaning a Companion / Delegate of The Emperor.

In general, a "COUNT' means a NOBLEMAN! A COUNTESS, a NOBLEWOMAN!
