Please write a reason? Did transition hurt a lot? How could you cope?

Both my kids were born without drugs and it was unbearably painful after 6cm, but I was able to bear it through somehow and get to the end. While I was in transition I prayed out loud to God that He would help me get through it. It felt like someone was ripping my body in half every two minutes and the pain was so intense I couldn't breathe. I coped by taking each contraction one at time and trying to relax in between. I won't lie it was extremely hard. However, once I got through it and was able to push I felt this surge of energy and I did really well during pushing.

I am not trying to scare you by any means or reflect negatively on natural child birth. I just remember coming away from the birth proud of myself for using no drugs but also with a nagging feeling like I was a little traumatized by the experience, but I was embarrassed to say anything at the time.

I am now pregnant with my third and I would like to go natural again but I told myself that if I can't it is okay and that I can just decide when I am in the moment what I need to do.

It was not unbearable pain, but sure it hurt. I did get the epidural for fear it would get worse. Well guess what, I waited too long and the epidural did not take effect. The pain never did get any worse and guess I could cope if I could not get pain meds in time agian. As for coping, I found a focal point in the room and just concentrated on that object during every contraction. However I dont want to be in pain this time and have full intentions of having another epidural before I am in real pain. No one ever got an award for being in pain during child birth the longest, so if you are in pain, take care of yourself too.

I can't say mine was unbearable, but it did hurt while pushing. My labor was only 4-5 hours. I really didn't believe I was in labor (second pregnancy) because my "labor pains" weren't that bad until about 30 minutes before I delivered. Plus I was only 37.5 weeks. I barely made it to the hospital in time (25 mins after getting into the delivery room) and didn't even have time to get an epidural. My husband had to yell down the hall for a doctor because it happened so fast. So I wasn't even prepared for anything to hurt and I didn't even try to think about it because it was happening and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Yes, it hurt because it felt like I was delivering a small elephant. I just let out 2 blood curdling screams (2 pushes) and the baby was out. I don't even think I went through transition since I dialated from 3 - 10cm in 20 minutes.

Millions of women do it naturally every year, so it can be done. I tried to but I started losing my mind because it hurt so bad when I transitioned and so I did take pain meds through my IV. My labor was only 2 hours long, and my doctor said my pain was probably worse than others because I had to do all the work in a much shorter amount of time. I didn't have an epidural because I had heard that the recovery was much worse. I'll try doing without drugs next time, but if I need them I wont feel bad.

Natural birth is painful, yes. But it's a present-moment pain and that's that. While the c-section doesn't hurt the moment you're conceiving. But it hurts an awful lot after the anesthethics ease away. And it's a pain you have to deal with during two damn months, if not more. Breathing, coughing, laughing, sneazing, crying... everything hurts as hell. Even walking or trying to get up after being laid down. So I would go for natural birth if I could turn back time.

I've done it twice, the first time I was in labor for 41 hours (the second time was only 14) and I survived without meds. I just kept telling myself that millions of women before me had done this and I, too, could handle it. Yes, it is difficult but worth it. They say you forget about the pain once you hold your baby and it's true, nothing else matters once that little one is cradled in your arms. Just think of the goal and remind yourself that this pain will pass - it won't last forever.
Best of luck to you.

I'm not going to lie.It hurt like hell both times.I had nothing but back labor with both my kids.I'm not sure how I did it.I just did.Once it got time to push it was just like this big energy rush and then it was over.I was so amazed that I did this without drugs or a epidural.Good luck!
