I need to hand off a project I'm managing for the day but can't think of a good "reason." Any ideas?

There are no good reasons to lie so you can get paid for not doing your job (that's stealing). Consider taking a half-day of vacation or working extra hours in advance to save as "comp" time which you can use for personal business.

You "feel real bad" about T.O.'s situation and need to lay back and think about your life, because of it.
I mean, if HE can'd deal with it, in spite of his success, money and entourage, then what IS life about?

If you don't have a dog...your dog got hit by a car you have to bring him to the vet.
One of your parents cars broke down...you have to go pick them up
