it don't mean s-h-i-t people 5-0 or 0-5 in the pre-season its only tune up time to get back in game form for the regular season. some top players on teams don't even play every pre-seaon games and allot of rookies get to try out.
WHO HERE REALLY BELIEVES THAT IF YOUR TEAM DOES GREAT IN PRE-SEASON THAT THEY WILL DO THE SAME IN THE REGULAR SEASON.

I don't think it really matters how team does in the pre season.it's the regular season that counts.U can't win the Cup during the pre season.I mean Montreal is not doing that great in the pre season but I trust they will have an awesome regular season.

Pre-season is for figuring out who are going to be the second, third, and fourth-team players, and for getting the better players tuned up. I don't give much meaning to pre-season results in any sport - as far as who is going to win the championship. It's too long a season and then you have to consider injuries too. For me, I look to the hottest team in the last 20 games of the regular season. The only time I was wrong since the mid 70's happened to involve the Flyers in 1997 when the Red Wings kicked our butts.

In the pre-season teams and coaches are just trying things out. It really doesn't say anything if your record is 5-0. Maybe your best players were playing against other teams rookies. But it does give your team a confidence boost if you have good record.

I agree with you. Look at the Houston Texans, 3-1 in preseason. 0-3 regular season.

Nobody with a brain would think it means anything. As a mater of fact so many teams qualify for the play-offs in the NHL most of the regular season means little.

It doesn't matter. Most of the players in the lineup during the preseason get shipped back to Junior and the AHL, so it's not a good reflection of the team's performance.

Simple answer, no. Pre-season is to get warmed up and experiment with different line combination. Some rookie evaluations too.

I've always found in hockey, football & baseball when I team has a great pre-season, they suck in the regular season.
