For professional, school or university exams the same principle applies. Have the goal clear in your mind and decide if you really want to get there.

If you are convinced concentrate on the job at hand without worrying about anything else. For example: Never think about the 200 pages you have to study for the exam. Always brake down your work and so you will have to worry for the 20 pages you have to study for today.

Make a realistic timetable and stick to it. Try and balance work, study and your personal life. Accept that in order to study you are going to have to sacrifice some of your time but it's going to worth it in the end. If you don't think it will worth it stop studying.

Do not arrange to study only one day of the week for 10 hours. You will never manage to study non stop for such a long time. It is better to study for about an hour every day and then for 2 to 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday.

Always have a rest day.

Take notes. A good way to remember the important points is to go over your text at least twice. First time highlight important points. Second time note important points on a piece of paper (or type them). When you go back to your notes to revise check if you can remember the examples by looking at key words you have noted.

Hope i helped a bit. Good luck.

for rememberering essay type questions I used the back of posters and mneumonics
write your essay out- pick out key words- ie Ivan the terrible had a dog called fred
I would pick out F
carry on with this till you have loads of letters- then using the letters make a quirky saying ie
F red
Ran
Away
Down
the Road

then when the question comes up in the exam- jot this saying down- and the key words that go with it- you will remember all key words to go with each letter and hopefully not forget any key points-
write them down on your posters stick them in your room- you will remember them
hope i've not confused you- it worked for me!

Turn off your computer, turn off your tv and anything else that might distract you. Then get down to some good old fashioned hard work.
You get nothing for nothing. If you are not motivated enough to want to succeed, you won't.
