i need help with a laptop
it a ibm thinkpad
when i start it
it say starting windows
and then at the bottom it says
windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNI\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
you can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows 2000
Setup using the original Setup Floppy disk or CD-ROM
select "r" at the first screen to start repair

windows repair often don't work.i suggest you should reinstall your windows. to prevent this kind of problem in future please always use good firewall & updated anti-virus software. Now a days spyware and virus spread from PC to PC very quickly via messenger and chat engine.Often we discovered unprotected windows is victim of this viruses.
my tips on recovering your data is have back up to other PC or on CDs. Laptops are very hard to recover data if anything goes wrong in compare to desktop pc.
you might use CD-RW or DVD-RW disc for contstant use.

You have probably deleted one or more of your system files. It sounds like your FAT32 system file is either corrupt or missing. If you have created a recovery disc, then this is the time in which you would want to use it, or you can just reinstall your operating system if you have your windows installation CD. If not, either buy one or download one. NOTE, downloading one is illegal without paying for it.

You will need to reinstall ALL of your folders and files games, word files, etc. I sure hope your not an author and your computrer did this ha ha and you didn't save your story to a disc. I hope this help and gave you a good laugh.

easy and 100% working way
when u run your cd it asks u to repair or install.
select install (not repair). when u go further it will ask u again to repair. then select repair. this will surely fix ur problem
