Historically, governments that have banned firearms have experienced a rise in crime and or political abuse. An example of this is Germany's Third Reich. Banning privately owned firearms is one of the first of many abuses Hitler imposed upon the people of Germany. This abuse (banning firearms) made the rest of the abuses possible. In the United States we have, thankfully, the 2nd Amendment which states " A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." This is supposed to protect the people from government abuse, although it seems this is contingent on the opinions of the supreme court justices. The idea that banning privately owned firearms will reduce crime is preposterous at best, and catastrophic at worst. After all, people who commit crimes are going to commit crimes no matter how many laws are made. Murder is illegal. Assault with a deadly weapon is illegal. Armed robbery is illegal, yet all of these deeds occur. Making firearms illegal will result in only the criminals being armed. Where does that put you? It is not the duty of the police to protect you, and in almost every case they arrive to late to prevent any carnage from occurring. It is up to the private citizens to protect themselves. There are currently (in the U.S.A) many laws restricting firearms ownership and use. Some of which are patently unconstitutional. More restrictive gun laws are unnecessary. If a country wishes to remain free, firearms must be legal to own and carry. History will vouch for that.

Why would you want to ban guns? They are the reason that no other nation has invaded us (Except Mexico, illegally) and any guns that are used illegally are illegally obtained anyways, so banning them isn't going to stop bad guys from getting them, it will just mean that you can't defend yourself. I understand why you think that banning guns would be a good thing because I am a mother, but the Second Amendment has what has guaranteed our Sovereignty as a Nation.

It depends on the country, of course, and relevant laws.

In the US, the 2nd Amendment protects against most federal regulation of firearms. So, it would be up to each state to enact gun control law. And that may run into state constitution issues.

You really shouldn't "band guns" together because it will damage the finish. If you need to transport several firearms in the same case wrap each in an ordinary (clean) kitchen towel to protect them. Also white athletic socks work for smaller handguns.

brandyniz is actually making a mistake about "defending yourself". It has been proven that most of the time, the fact that you have a firearm on you gives the more reason for the offendant to shoot you. You generally DON'T have the time to take out your firearm and do anything with it.

However as this person is also pointing out, total ban of the guns will lead to illegal owning of the weapon, but it could help. Suggesting to your deputy (talk to your town deputy first, so they can make pressure on the state deputy) to enforce laws that makes it harder to be the "proud" owner of a firearm is a start. Also, laws that limits the kind of firearm that you can possess and the quantity (for exemple, no automatic!).

I wouldn't they are the only thing that really deters crime. Do you want to break into a house if you had a 1 in 4 chance of being shot?

i wouldn't sway the government to ban my guns , they have never left my gun cabinet and killed anyone.............they are good guns.but we could ban people who are stupid enough to take a gun and point it at another for no reason at all kill some one and claim it was the guns fault........now that's a good ban to support

The government wants to confiscate all guns by raiding houses. That way, American citizens will be defenseless during martial law before THIS plan is implemented!...

First you need an education, just so you can be at least as intelligent as most rednecks. I don't see that happening for you.

They will never ban guns. The law enforcers need them too. It's too bad.
