I live outside Los Angeles (valley girl) and am a black woman. For all the bad rap that local police receive, especially where ethnics are concerned, I must confess that all my experiences with the police have been very pleasant (even when I was being ticketed). A couple of years ago, my car broke down on the 405 Freeway at night (my grandchild and nephew were with me) and although we had called a tow truck before the CHP officer arrived, he also called (he was concerned about me being stuck on the freeway with kids late at night)...voila, ten minutes later, the tow truck arrived. I could mention other positive encounters but let me just say that LAPD and CHP both have a fan in me.

Here n San Antonio, TX., I give it 70/30. 30 being the not so great part. Recently, very rencently, a few have been convicted/ charged with crimes, from drugs, rape, questionable killings and the like. I find comfort in knowing/believing in the 70% out there doing there job- but each passing year, it seems to get a bit worse

great people and provide a valuable service, but...
they apparently have alot of free time because many of them insist on sitting in parking lots, middle of medians, behind buildings, off in the medians, etc, etc, trying to catch some of us speeding. And they tell me..."We don't have quotas". Please...tickets provide an income to the City that pays for many services the police need. You may not have quotas, but you definitely write tickets for purposes other than maintaining our traffic laws....

I feel like they need more help on their force because it seems like their isn't enough to get the streets cleaned up. But other than that, they are doing a good job.

They dont bother me and I dont bother them. yes, I speed sometimes, but I never do anything that outrageous where they would feel the urge to pull me over.
My thing is that so many people complain about the police, but who are the the first people they call when they need help??
The Police!!!
