You must be asking only the younger generation. The price of gas affects whether I can put more money in my savings and my 401K. It affects what type of gift to buy for my grandson's birthday. It affects how often I go out to eat and even how often I go out to shop due to the use of the gas. I have cut back demanding fun things like shoes, CDs, and movie tickets because I have to think of having money in retirement, about 15 years away.
