Apart from control panel - add & remove programs, are there any registers that should be unchecked by hand so as to do a better or more complete job? Many of these programs leave vestiges behind, it's the vestiges I'm inquiring about.

When you uninstall programs, they sometimes leave Registry values behind. so it's wise to download a registry cleaner that will clean up their tracks. Here's two free ones you can download:

1. Easycleaner http://www.toniarts.com
2. RegSupreme 1.4 http://www.macecraft.com

Good luck!
